JKF Industri reduces gas consumption by 50% with new green initiative

JKF Industri has achieved a significant milestone in its green initiative. By implementing a new dust extraction solution and waste heat recovery system JKF has successfully reduced its gas consumption by 50%. The achievement was witnessed by Mayor Mogens Jespersen and representatives from Grøn Mariagerfjord during a visit to JKF Industri's factory in Als, Denmark, on March 24th.

The new system, which will replace the old gas furnaces used to heat JKF's factory halls, will be connected to the district heating system, a crucial feature that sets it apart from its predecessor. The system uses metal plates filled with hot water mounted inside the pipes that transport clean air from outside into the factory. The warm plates in the pipes function as a radiator, ensuring that the clean air reaches a sufficiently high temperature before reaching the employees, who should have a comfortable temperature to work in.

Green ambitions

Casper Houmann Jensen, JKF Industri's project and quality manager, is responsible for finding new solutions that can help the company achieve its green ambitions. The new "process ventilation system" was mostly produced in-house, with the element that heats the air inside the pipes purchased from outside. The system's innovative design is expected to significantly reduce the company's CO2 emissions, enabling JKF Industri to adjust its CO2 plan for 2030 and work towards its goal of zero CO2 emissions within scope 1 of the GHG measuring tool. The plan is to reach the goal already in 2025.

The new system is expected to save JKF Industri approximately 5,000 kilos of gas per month during the colder months of the year, although the actual amount saved will vary with the season and depend on how cold the given month is. The company's achievement is a significant step towards its vision of contributing to a better global environment by continuing to be among the leading manufacturers and suppliers of ventilation components.

JKF Industri's factory and headquarters are located in the town of Als, covering an area of 25,000 square meters. The company specializes in providing modern ventilation systems for the wood, milling, agro, and metal industries, among others. JKF Industri's new district heating solution is the latest addition to its green initiatives and is expected to inspire and motivate other energy-intensive companies in Mariagerfjord Municipality to adopt similar measures.

JKF aims to inspire others

JKF Industri is one of the 20 most energy-intensive companies in Mariagerfjord Municipality and participates in the community "Green Mariagerfjord." The initiative aims to encourage its members to share experiences and inspire each other to implement new green initiatives. JKF Industri's successful implementation of its new ventilation system is a testament to its commitment to innovation and sustainability, and the company's new system will undoubtedly serve as an inspirational contribution to its colleagues in the Green Mariagerfjord community.

In conclusion, JKF Industri's successful implementation of its new ventilation system is a significant milestone in its green initiative and a clear demonstration of the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability. The new system's design, which uses waste heat recovery and district heating, is expected to reduce the company's gas consumption by 50%, resulting in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The company's achievement aligns with its vision of contributing to a better global environment.
